FAQ & getting started
The questions that decide it
What laboratories actually ask before moving systems — and what the move itself involves.
Your data
Is our data stored with other laboratories'?
No. Each laboratory is provisioned its own PostgreSQL database and its own subdomain when it is onboarded. There is no shared table of patients or results, so there is no query that could return another laboratory's records.
Who owns the records we enter?
You do. Using Clinexas gives us no ownership of your patients' records, your results or your reports. You can request a machine-readable export at any time, during your subscription and for a handover period after it ends.
What happens to our data if we leave?
We make it available for export for a reasonable handover period, then delete the database. We keep only the billing records the law requires us to keep.
Clinical workflow
Can we use our own test catalogue and reference ranges?
Yes. Tests, parameters, units, sample types and reference ranges are configured per laboratory, and ranges can differ by age and sex. Result flags are calculated against the ranges you set, not ours.
Can one person both enter and approve a result?
Not by default — approving your own result is blocked. Laboratories that genuinely run with one qualified operator can enable single-operator mode, which permits it for non-critical results only and stamps the report as self-approved.
What happens when a result has to be corrected?
An amendment keeps the original on record rather than overwriting it, so the correction is visible and attributable. Critical values require explicit acknowledgement before a result can move on.
Do you support radiology as well as pathology?
Yes. Imaging requests, reporting and release run in the same system and the same patient record, with reporting roles separate from the laboratory's.
Money
Do you handle HMO and corporate accounts?
Yes. Patients can be individual, corporate or HMO, each with its own price list, and invoices, payments, receipts and refunds are all recorded against the request that generated them.
How does Clinexas charge us?
On work done — either a flat rate per test billed, or a share of what you bill or collect. You are never charged per staff login, so giving every member of staff their own account costs nothing.
Trust
Can a hospital confirm a report we issued is genuine?
Yes. Approved reports carry a QR code and a verification link that anyone can open without an account. It confirms provenance — laboratory, lab number, test and date — and deliberately shows no clinical values.
Do you hold a security certification?
Not at this time, and we say so plainly rather than implying otherwise. We are happy to walk your technical people through the architecture in detail — see the Security page.
Getting started
Provisioning is quick. The catalogue is the work
Spinning up your workspace is the easy part. Getting your test catalogue and reference ranges right is what determines whether the system is useful, and we help you do it.
- 01
We provision your workspace
Your own database and your own subdomain. This part takes minutes, not weeks.
- 02
Your catalogue goes in
Departments, tests, parameters, units, sample types and the reference ranges you actually use — by age and sex where it matters.
- 03
Your people get logins
Individual accounts with roles, so the audit trail and the approval rules mean something from day one.
- 04
Your reports get your identity
Logo, colours, report template and named signatories, so what leaves the building looks like yours.
- 05
You go live
Usually department by department rather than all at once, with the old process running alongside until you are satisfied.
Still deciding?
Send us the awkward cases your current system handles badly. Those are the ones worth testing.
